Jamestown Elks win tourney title

The Jamestown Elks captured championship honors during an eight-team amateur baseball tournament hosted by the Bismarck Capitals in Bismarck over the weekend.

The Elks swept all three of its games en route to the title. The team kicked things off with back-to-back shutout wins on Saturday.

Jamestown defeated Bismarck AMS 2-0. Darrin Iseri notched the complete-game shutout on the mound, allowing just four hits and striking out eight.

The Elks then dispatched the Bismarck Capitals 5-0. Matt Wawers went the distance in the seven-inning contest in that one, strikeout out six batters.

In Sunday’s championship game, the Elks edged out the Moorhead Brewers 3-2. Jamestown’s Kory Wolden knocked in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The game ended after six due to weather. Ryan Iliss got the win for the Elks, allowing one earned run on four hits.
