Jamestown Police Department warns residents of a convicted sex offender

The Jamestown Police Department is warning residents of a convicted sex offender who is living in Jamestown.

Timothy Alan Taxis, 50, is residing at the Starlight Motel, 1610 Business Loop East No. 2. He is described as a white male, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds with hazel eyes and blond hair. Taxis drives a white 1992 Chrysler New Yorker with North Dakota license JZR252 and a black, 1985 Dodge Ram two-door with North Dakota license GEA590.

Taxis was assigned a high-risk assessment by the North Dakota Risk Level Committee, Office of the Attorney General.

Taxis was convicted of indecent exposure in 2001 in Stutsman County. Authorities said he exposed himself to two 11-year-old girls at a park and then followed them in a vehicle. He was sentenced to 30 days.

He was convicted of indecent exposure in 1998 in Stutsman County. Authorities said he exposed himself to the female employees of a video store. He received 30 days with 24 days suspended.

He was convicted of gross sexual imposition in 1994 in Stutsman County. Authorities said on three occasions in one week, Taxis exposed himself to young girls in the area of a tennis court. On one of those occasions, Taxis forced an 11-year-old girl to have sexual contact with him. He received seven years with three years and six months suspended.

Taxis is not wanted by police at this time and is currently serving the sentence imposed by the court. This notification is meant for public safety and not to increase fear in the community, nor should this information be used to threaten, assault or intimidate the offender. Attempts to harass, intimidate or threaten Taxis or his family, landlord or employer will be turned over for prosecution.
