Taylor Orr and Rob Bollinger proved their worth on the field this season.

Now, it’s on paper, too.

The Jamestown duo was named to Class AAA’s all-state second team on Thursday night, giving the Blue Jays their first all-state honors since 2010, when Jordan Lynch was named to the second team.

Orr, a senior rushed 170 times for 871 yards and eight touchdowns in helping the Blue Jays to the Class AAA state playoffs, where they fell at Fargo South in the opening round. It was the first playoff appearance for Jamestown in five years.

“He’s got real good speed for a high school athlete,” Jamestown coach Tim Fletcher said. “If you give him an inch of daylight, he’ll turn it into something for you. That’s what he did all season.”

The 6-foot 170-pounder had four 100-yard games including 101 yards in the playoff loss. He opened the season with a career day, exploding for 243 yards and three scores in a 46-12 win at Grand Forks Central.

“He’s an outstanding athlete,” Fletcher said. “His results are the fruits of his labors.”

Bollinger, also a senior, was Jamestown’s only returning starter from 2012. The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder was a mainstay at offensive guard, creating holes for Orr and company.

“You look at the boys up front, and Rob was sure our leader,” Fletcher said. “He’s not a big vocal leader, but he sure led on the field Friday night.”

Bollinger was also a standout at defensive end.

“We knew Rob was gonna be a two-way starter for us,” Fletcher said. “He’s gonna be a real tough kid to replace.”
