Jean Frances (Steenstrup) Grubbs, 80, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014 at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND.
Jean was born October 19, 1933 to Henry (Harry) and S. Gail (Carr) Steenstrup in Minot, ND. She attended local public schools and graduated from Minot High School. She went to finishing school at Stephens College, and later earned a teaching certificate at Minot State.
She married Clyde James Grubbs, Jr. on December 28, 1956. They both taught school in Michigan and North Dakota before moving to Jamestown, ND.
Her husband, Clyde, preceded her in death along with her parents and brother, Tom Steenstrup.
Jean enjoyed being called by her nickname "GG" which stood for Grandma Great as she would not admit to being a Great-Grandmother. She also had many hobbies including painting, crafts as well as being an avid bowler, golfer, and motorcyclist.
She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Sarah (Ron) Rabideaux of Frazee, MN; Theresa (Al) Haag of Jamestown, ND; grandchildren Tina (Jason) Gaffney, Tony (April) Rabideaux, and Becky (Scott) Hoselton all of West Fargo, ND; Tori (Mike Block) Rabideaux of Detroit Lakes, MN; Jody (Donnie) Fisher of Painesville Township, OH; and Courtney (Andy Cook) Haag of Jamestown, ND; along with ten great-grandchildren: Kathryn, Owen, Landon, Bella, Cullen, Skieler, Connor, Johnathon, Bryce, and Drew; as well as her beloved dog, Addie.
A memorial will be held at a later date.
