JHS class of 1963 holds reunion
The 50th reunion of the Jamestown High School class of 1963 was celebrated July 12-13.
Of the 195 classmates in the graduation class, 83 from all over the United States attended the reunion.
The celebration started at the Knights of Columbus Hall with a buffet. There was an opportunity to become reacquainted with classmates, renew old friendships and reminisce.
A comprehensive reunion book with class information and memorabilia, and reunion shirts with the class of 1963 reunion logo were available to be purchased. Displays included old Blue Jay News, annuals and a collage showing the covers of the 50 annuals since 1963. The 33 deceased classmates were remembered with a display of each of their name badges and a release of 33 balloons in their honor.
On Saturday, there was an opportunity for golf and a tour of Jamestown, the middle school and the high school. The reunion celebration continued that evening at the Gladstone Inn & Suites. The walls were decorated with Blue Jay throws, class of 1963 banners and 50th reunion posters and a cheerleader's dress. Souvenirs were given out to each attendee. A class group photo was taken followed by a buffet banquet. After dinner there was a brief program during which unique or interesting facts were shared about each of the 33 deceased classmates. Classmates danced to music of the 1960s. Approximately 135 classmates and guests attended the events.
Members of the JHS class of 1963 get together at The Depot Family Restaurant at 2:30 p.m. on the second Monday of every month for drinks.
