Jimmies roll to big home wins

The Jimmie basketball teams each surpassed the century mark in lopsided wins Sunday at the Civic Center.

The third-ranked University of Jamestown women allowed just 23 points to Oglala Lakota College (S.D.), while the men got 31 points from Brequan Tucker to finish off the afternoon sweep.

The Jimmies are at home again Thursday night, hosting Johnson & Wales (Colo.), beginning at 5:30 with the women’s game.

Jamestown 104, Oglala 23

Jordan BridgesThe Jimmies didn’t shoot a great percentage, but they got up 87 shots mainly due to forcing a whopping 43 Oglala turnovers.

All 14 players dressed played more than nine minutes and 13 scored.

Jordan Bridges had 17 points, nine rebounds and two blocked shots. Freshman Paige Emmel had 15 points in just under 16 minutes on the floor. Kyra Dewald (11) and Kaeli Kraska (10) were also in double figures. The Jimmies shot 46 percent, but connected on just five of their 26 3-point attempts.

Paige EmmelMegan Pold grabbed 12 rebounds and Hannah Steele dished out 10 assists.

The 16-1 Jimmies, who have won 13 games in a row, had 28 steals. Carly Jensen had five and Maggie Seter four.

Jamestown 107, Oglala 58

Brequan TuckerTucker continued his strong first season for the Jimmies with an efficient 31-point performance.

The sophomore from Joliet, Ill., made 13 of his 18 shots and did so in just 20 minutes of game action.

Mark Hoge added 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the win as the Jimmies scored 53 points in the first half and 54 in the second.

Mark PotterMark Potter splashed in four 3-pointers on eight attempts and finished with 14 points in less than 16 minutes.

The Jimmies (6-11) had 26 assists on their 40 makes. Taylor Newton dished out five assists and Austin Giese four.
