Jimmies win big
Jamestown North Dakota 121 3rd St NW 58401

The goal for the Jimmie women's soccer team is to get to nine wins.

They got one closer Tuesday.

The Jimmies hung a touchdown on Presentation College as six players scored in a 7-0 win over the Saints in Aberdeen for win No. 8 on the season.

"We were able to work on some patterns and play a bunch of people for the majority of the game and keep our fitness levels up," coach Nick Becker said. "The girls were able to work on some realistic things, do some fine-tuning that hopefully will help us down the road.

"It's always good to get some extra reps in, so I felt like we accomplished some good things."

The Jimmies led 2-0 at the break, but scored five goals over the final 42 minutes.

Presentation College has just one win in 13 matches, so it was a situation where the Jimmies were clearly the better side and proved it.

"It took a little while to get going but when the girls finally settled in I thought we played pretty well," Becker said.

Freshman Josselin Cosio scored two goals as the Jimmies peppered Presentation keeper Morgan Hettinger with 42 shots. They put 35 on frame in their 5-1 win over Johnson & Wales on Sunday.

Justine Bercier-Eyer and Jolynn Warnes scored in the first half for a 2-0 lead. The first, Bercier-Eyer's first of the season, coming in the sixth minute.

Monica Noria got the third goal early in the second half. Cosio had two of the final four and Taylor Bertsch and Daniella Taylor also got into the act for their first goals of the season.

"It's nice to see some other girls scoring and hopefully that gives them confidence so it's not just two girls that are scoring for us," Becker said.

Nicole Ladoucer, a freshman from Grand Forks, stopped all nine shots she faced for her third shutout of the season.

The Jimmies close out the regular season on Saturday, hosting Bellevue (Neb.) at 2 p.m.

"We're trying to get to that 9-win mark and win five in a row. Bellevue is comparable to us, so it will be a good test for us," Becker said.
