She was born in LaMoure on Oct. 11, 1947, the youngest child of John and Eleanora (Ellison) Christofferson. Kathy was baptized and confirmed at Zoar Lutheran Church in LaMoure. She attended LaMoure Public Schools and spent her entire life in the LaMoure community.

Kathy married Larry Fischer. Together they had two children, Lawrence and Lori. She spent 34 years working as a certified nurse assistant at St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure. She was dedicated to helping others and lovingly cared for residents and fellow employees, who she considered her second family. Kathy also worked part-time at the LaMoure Credit Union, Farmers Union Insurance and Pithey Apartments. She later married Willie Kassman.

Kathy loved spending time with family and enjoyed several trips to Mesa, Arizona, Medora and the Norsk Hostfest. She enjoyed decorating and home interior parties, gardening, pedicures, car races, Elvis music, Mickey Mouse and the Minnesota Vikings. She will forever be remembered as a strong and faithful servant, who never complained, even in illness, and always hoped the best for others.

With her family, friends and career, Kathy has truly been a giver. What an example to all - she gave everything and asked nothing in return. She was so content with what she had and so willing to do for others. By her example we learned to trust and know that God is with you always, love others with all your heart, help others without being asked and expect nothing in return.

She is survived by two children, Lawrence (Brenda) Fischer, LaMoure, and Lori (Paul) Wald, Edgeley; five grandchildren, Dustin and Ashley Fischer, and Courtney, Jayden and Tiahna Wald; a great-granddaughter, McKenzie Harstad; a sister, Ellen (Nels) Lillejord, Jamestown; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Joan Weber; and a brother, Calvin Christofferson.

Her funeral service will be held at Zoar Lutheran Church in LaMoure on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery, LaMoure. An online guestbook may be signed at www.dahlstromfuneralhome.com
