Kenmare, N.D., man injured in airplane crash

A North Dakota man was injured Friday when the airplane he was flying crashed at the Beach, N.D., airport, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The patrol said Thomas Mau, Kenmare, N.D., was flying an airplane from Kenmare to Beach. As he was landing the plane at the Beach airport, he lost control and the plane and hit a hay bale in a field next to teh runway.

The patrol said Mau was transported by Beach Ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital in Dickinson, N.D. for treatment of injuries.

The plane sustained severe damage.

The Golden Valley Sheriff's Department also responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP and the Federal Aviation Administration
