Killing of ND woman 25 years ago remains a mystery
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) -- It's been 25 years since 19-year-old Annie Korynta was stabbed to death in her Grand Forks apartment, and police are still trying to track down her killer.
Retired police investigator Dennis Eggebraaten thinks the killer is still in the area. Current Police Sgt. Bill Macki says there has been a person of interest from the beginning of the investigation, and he hopes that at some point evidence will lead to an arrest.
Korynta was found dead at the foot of her bed by her roommate in the early morning hours of May 11, 1987. There was no forced entry to the apartment, no signs of a struggle and no witnesses. The murder weapon was never found.
Korynta's mother lives in Fisher, Minn. She says she just wants closure.
