Email

LARIMORE, N.D. — The water treatment plant in Larimore was out of commission Wednesday, and the city asked residents to avoid using too much water.

The problem became apparent around 8 a.m. Wednesday, said public works Supervisor Dustin Barber, but the nature of the problem was unclear.

Water remained in storage in the city’s water tower, but he said he was asking the residents of this city of 380 to avoid long showers and washing clothes until repairs were done.

Barber said something was wrong with the clear well, a structure used to store treated water before it is pumped into the tower. The pump was working but the water just wasn’t going up to the tower, he said.

Contractors were on their way to make repairs, he said, but he couldn’t say how long that would take.

Larimore is about 40 miles west of Grand Forks.
