Legion Auxiliary holds meeting
The spring meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary was held on April 24 at the Kensal Memorial Hall. Registration began at 5 p.m. by the Carrington Unit. The Kensal Post hosted a roast beef dinner.
District 4 President Elsie Goldsmith, Streeter, presided over the meeting, with 30 unit members in attendance. Invocation was given by Judith Williams, Streeter Unit. The Pledge of Allegiance and the national anthem were led by Nikki Rahlf, McHenry Unit. The New Rockford Unit presented the memorial service with 27 names read for deceased members since last April. A message was read from Department President Marlys Aubol, New Town, who was unable to attend. A skit was presented by six members on “Civility.” Six past district presidents were acknowledged. Marlene Boyer, department community service chairman, gave remarks.
An election was held for the coming two years, following installation at the June convention. With no other nominations, Goldsmith was re-elected president and Judith Williams, vice president/secretary. Goldsmith will be district delegate to the national convention.
The Jamestown Unit had drawings for several door prizes. Williams closed the meeting with the benediction. The Wimbledon Unit provided bars served following the meeting, with the Legionaries.
The department convention will be in Minot June 27-29. Call the Grand Hotel for reservations. The national convention will be Aug. 22-28 in Charlotte, N.C.
