Letter to the editor: Government was supporting its country, not drinking
As I was flipping through channels on Sunday, I caught something that really spoke to me. Two sportscasters were discussing the Canadian men’s Olympic hockey team. One, a former NHL player from Canada, said in response to his team making it to the gold medal game, “the Canadian government,” because of the time difference back home, made it legal for one day only, for bars to open at 5:30 a.m. in certain provinces, as the game was scheduled for 6 a.m.
Some may say the Canadian government is promoting alcohol use and other non-desirable behaviors. I disagree; the government, along with its citizens, is simply saying, “Go, Canada,” and that is what is right with the world today.
