Letter to the editor: No U.S. war veteran should be turned away from polls
It’s a shame Ernest Hubacker, a 98-year-old Jamestown World War II veteran, was not allowed to vote at the primary election Tuesday.
In my opinion, someone should have been directed to help him get the proper identification to vote that day. There were certainly enough people around with seemingly too little to do because of the low voter turnout.
We have just been reminded of the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion. As a person born in Normandy where it occurred, I will always be grateful of the sacrifices made for all of us by soldiers like Ernest Hubacker.
No veteran of U.S. wars should ever be turned away from a polling place. They’ve really earned that right!
