Local athletes cited for weekly awards

Kylee Voight and Aaron Ford of Jamestown High School and the University of Jamestown’s Autumn Wang and Garrett Tenney have been named athletes of the week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.

Voight earned second-place finishes in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes at the Bronco Red and Gold Invite in Lisbon. She also ran a leg on the 400 relay team that qualified for state.

Ford won the 800 and 1,600 at the Lisbon meet and ran on the second-place 3,200 relay team.

Wang, a sophomore from Devils Lake, went 8-for-16 in helping the Jimmie softball team go 6-0. She also scored six runs and had two RBI and was 3-for-3 on stolen bases.

Tenney, a senior from Gardnerville, Nev., qualified for nationals in the discus (160-9) at the Sioux City Relays and placed second in the event. He also set a school record in the hammer throw (169-1) and placed second
