Man allegedly stabbed in neck at Lakeside Marina and Campground
A 51-year-old Moorhead, Minn., man was allegedly stabbed after an altercation with a woman Friday around 2:15 p.m. at the Lakeside Marina and Campground north of Jamestown.
Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser said the man was allegedly stabbed in the neck by a 39-year-old Brainerd, Minn., woman. He said the couple was traveling to Williston, N.D.
“They came in last night and pulled into a camping site,” Kaiser said.
The woman is in custody for attempted murder and is being held at the Stutsman County Correctional Center. She has not been formally charged with any crimes.
Kaiser said the victim was transported by Jamestown Area Ambulance to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center and then air lifted to Sanford Hospital in Fargo. Kaiser said the man’s neck wounds were serious but didn’t appear life threatening. The man’s medical condition was unknown.
Mike Kesler, manager of Lakeside Marina and Campground, said the two people just showed up sometime Thursday night and occupied one of the camping sites at the campground without paying.
“I was going to have to kick them out of that spot because another family had previously reserved it,” Kesler said.
Kaiser said law enforcement officials didn’t find anything illegal or out of the ordinary after obtaining a search warrant to search the camper the couple were in. He said officials were still waiting for search warrants so they could search the vehicle used to pull the camper.
The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation are continuing the investigation in this incident.
