Man arrested for DUI after vehicle strikes brick structure
A man was arrested for driving under the influence and care required Wednesday after he drove a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville into a decorative brick structure in Valley City, N.D., according to the Valley City Police Department.
Scott Michael Ringsaker, 24, was driving the Bonneville south on South Central Ave. approaching the intersection of 4th St. SW at 1:30 a.m. when he proceeded through the intersection and over the curb southbound.
The vehicle then left the road and continued south until it struck a decorative brick structure in front of the pedestrian walkway over the Sheyenne River leading to the Valley City State University campus.
The structure received significant damage and an exact estimate for repair cost is not available, VCPD said. It is believed damage is in excess of $5,000.
Ringsaker was transported to Mercy Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
According to the VCPD, Ringsaker was placed under arrest, issued citations for driving under the influence and care required, and then released.
