The Federal Bureau of Prisons lists Kyle Bell as being held at the federal prison in Tucson, Ariz.

SuperMax official Mark Collins says he can't comment on the reason for Bell's transfer, but explained inmates are held a facilities that meet "their safety and security needs."

Bell was convicted in 1999 of killing Jeanna North, whose family lived in his Fargo neighborhood. He was sentenced to life in prison.

Bell has spent the last decade at the maximum-security federal prison in Florence, where he was assigned after escaping from a prison transport bus in October 1999.
