Man dies after crash near Grand Rapids, Minn.

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. — A 60-year-old Aitkin County man died Saturday afternoon after a single-vehicle crash near Grand Rapids that may have been caused by a medical issue.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that the initial investigation indicated that James Lee of Swatara had a medical issue before his northbound 1994 Chrysler Concorde drove off the right side of the road and into a ditch along U.S. Highway 169 at Lakeview Drive, just south of Grand Rapids, at about 1:30 p.m.

Lee was transported to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

The patrol said his vehicle was not damaged when it left the road.
