The funeral for Marvin Grenz, Napoleon, ND will be held Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Streeter, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Napoleon, ND. Burial will be at the Napoleon City Cemetery.
Marvin, son of Jacob and Lucy (Freier) Grenz was born April 21, 1931 in a farm house near Napoleon, ND. He attended Streeter High School and graduated in 1949. He received a teaching certificate from Valley City State College and later attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago. After graduation, Marvin returned to the family farm and helped his parents. On September 6, 1953, Marvin married Florence Schlecht in Streeter, ND where they continued to farm and ranch for 61 years. His pride and joy were his family and farming, especially growing and combining his corn. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and various agricultural organization. Marvin frequently attended agricultural trade shows in particular Big Iron. He also enjoyed Western movies and music featuring Roy Rogers and Gene Autry. He was a cowboy at heart. He had a sweet tooth with a special love for Russell Stover. Marvin will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his distinctive laugh.
Marvin died Saturday, July 26, 2014 in a farm accident on the family farm. He was 83 years old.
Marvin is survived by his wife Florence, Napoleon, ND; 6 children, Janell (Roger) Bachman, Little McDonald Lake, MN; Jeff Grenz, Napoleon, ND; Kevin (Helen) Grenz, Jamestown, ND; Sandra (Dennis) Heck, Mandan, ND; Valerie Grenz, Grafton, ND and Lana (Korey) Kirschenmann, Fargo, ND; 9 grandchildren, Timothy and James Bachman, Kristen Moos, Bryan Grenz, Alan, John and David Grenz, Hannah and Trinity Kirschenmann; 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 aunt, Violet Grenz.
