McMillan studying in Australia
Melissa McMillan is studying in Australia during the 2013 fall semester through the Office for Education Abroad at the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn., and Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minn.
McMillan is from Jamestown and is the daughter of William and Theresa McMillan. She is a junior mathematics major at CSB.
The Australia program is located in Fremantle in western Australia, approximately 30 miles from the capital city of Perth. Students enroll at the University of Notre Dame Australia, the country’s first private, Catholic university.
All students participate in a course on Australian history and society, which includes an excursion in western Australia. In addition, students choose three courses from among their major, minor or general education requirements from the University of Notre Dame Australia course catalog.
CSB and SJU students are housed in a student residence on the university campus with some international and Australian students. The faculty for the program consists of a professor from CSB and SJU and professors from the University of Notre Dame Australia. Larry Davis, professor of biology at CSB and SJU, is the director of the program for fall 2013.
