Merna A. Olson 101 of Lewistown died Tuesday morning, December 10, 2013, at her home of natural causes.

She was born October 31, 1912 the daughter of Fred and Elsie (Rick) Thoms at their farm home in Clementsville, ND. She was baptized on February 23, 1913 at St. John Lutheran Church in Jamestown, ND. She received her schooling at the township school. On January 6, 1931 she was united in marriage to John C. Martin in Jamestown, ND. They farmed in the Rose Township until his death in 1962, she continued there until 1964 when she moved to Malta, Montana where she worked in the Hospital. On April 12, 1965 she was united in marriage to Jens P. Olson in Malta, MT. They farmed in the Malta area until their retirement in 1980 at which time they moved to Lewistown. He preceded her in death in 1997. She continued to make her home in Lewistown until the time of her death. Merna believed her occupation in life was her church, her family and her friends, they were all very important in her life.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Lewistown and the Beaver Creek Homemakers.

Merna is survived by two sons Fred L. (Carol) Martin and Del (Joan) Martin both of Jamestown, ND; three daughters Marilyn Mahlke of Lewistown, MT, Elsie (Bill) Huss of Great Falls, MT and Jackie McClure of Wickenburg, AZ; one brother Don (Ella) Thoms of Jamestown, ND; 23 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, 42 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral Services for Merna A. Olson will be Monday, December 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lewistown. Memorial Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Eddy Funeral Home Chapel in Jamestown, ND with interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Jamestown, ND under the direction of the Eddy Funeral Home. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family in Lewistown.

Friends are asked to make memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Council on Aging Transportation Fund or the charity of their choice and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home. Condolences for the family may be posted online at www.cloydfuneralhome.com
