Merrill Kuhlmann, 97, Bismarck, formerly of Wimbledon, ND, passed peacefully at his home on November 30, 2013. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, December 6, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Wimbledon, ND, with Rev. Thomas R. Marcis Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery, Wimbledon.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place.
Merrill William Kuhlmann was born October 23, 1916, the son of John and Magdalena (Christ) Kuhlmann. He attended school at Uxbridge Consolidated School and graduated in 1934. He attended North Dakota State School of Science and studied Machine Shop. On November 17, 1946, he married Edna Suhr in Fountain City, WI. Together they farmed near Wimbledon until their retirement in 1982. He also earned his Class B Electrical license in the 1960s, started Kuhlmann Electric, and worked as an electrician as well as farming until his retirement. Following retirement, they moved to Jamestown then to Bismarck where he resided until the time of his death. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bismarck.
Merrill is survived by his children, Edward (Marion) Kuhlmann, Wimbledon, ND, William "Bill" (Bernie) Kuhlmann, Bismarck, ND, and Ellen (Jim) Igoe, Grand Island, FL; his grandchildren, Amber, Brett, Sarah, Kari, Kim, and Mike; step-grandchildren, Cody and Caitlin; great-grandchildren, Kali, Alexis, Victoria, and Lance; and step-great-grandchildren, Makenna and Brooklynn.
Merrill was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; son, Eugene; his parents; brothers, Harold and Dorhn; and sister, Ruth Alderman.
