Mexico searches for stolen truck carrying radioactive material
VIENNA - Police scoured central Mexico on Wednesday for a truck they suspect was stolen by common thieves but carried an uncommon cargo: dangerous radioactive medical material that could provide an ingredient for a "dirty bomb."
The U.N. nuclear agency said it had been informed by Mexican authorities that the truck was stolen on Monday while it was taking cobalt-60 from a hospital in the northern city of Tijuana to a radioactive waste-storage centre.
