Montpelier OK Club holds meeting
The Montpelier OK Club met at the Legacy Center at noon March 18 with 13 members present. President Marlys Boughton brought the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Lorraine Jorgenson brought some history about St. Patrick’s Day. All the members remembered to wear something green. A story was told and Janet Van Bruggen read some jokes.
The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were approved as read. It was announced that Sonia Berg is having foot surgery March 21. The secretary will send her a card from the OK Club; she is in Burlington, Iowa, at her daughter’s home. DeLila Everson’s husband, Wally, died at Eventide at Hi-Acres on March 8. His memorial service will be in the spring. Each of the members signed a sympathy card for DeLila Everson and it was presented to her at the meeting.
Willie Kamletz thanked the club for the picture of Lt. Mitch Brecto presenting him with a plaque for his Salvation Army bell ringing. It was printed in The Jamestown Sun March 11 with the OK Club news from the previous meeting.
The door prize meal gift card went to DeLila Everson.
Everyone played bingo with Jorgenson winning the small picture frame. Everson won both the large picture frame and the blackout. Cards were played with Kamletz winning high in Whist; Jorgenson and DeLette Winkelman shared low. In pinochle, Janet Van Bruggen won high and Ratts was low.
The club furnished the afternoon dessert and coffee. The napkins and dessert were green in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. The James River Senior and Community Center staff were thanked for their service to the club. DeLila Everson’s 80th birthday was March 20.
Guests are always welcome at the meetings. The club’s next meeting will be on April 1 at the Legacy Center (at the old hospital). This is the public’s invitation to just come. Use the west entrance and then follow the arrows.
