Montpelier OK Club holds meeting
The Montpelier OK Club met at Legacy Living Center at June 17 with 17 members present.
Janet Van Bruggen shared a reading with “play on word meanings” titled “Hello, I have questions.” Harriet Kartes shared an experience she had. They were driving along and saw a sign “Beware of low flying planes.” They didn’t see any planes and wondered what that sign meant. Just then some very loud low-flying jets flew overhead, and they sounded lower than they really were.
Boughton announced Lola Conley is a new member of the Montpelier OK Club. Willie Kamletz fell at home and is recovering with bruises. Sonia Berg will send him a card from the club. Berg is back home and wearing shoes again. She had foot and toe surgery and wore a boot for quite a while.
The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were approved as read.
The door prize meal ticket drawing went to DeLette Winkelman.
The next meeting is July 1, and attendees are asked to wear something red, white and blue or something patriotic.
Bingo was played with Janet Van Bruggen, Harold Ratts, Norman Winkelman and DeLila Everson filling in the small picture frame, Sharon Hatlewick filled in the large picture frame, and Norman Winkelman and Irene Gjerding won blackout. Whist was played with these winners: high, Lorraine Jorgenson, and low, Everson, Gjerding, Gall and Conley. Pinochle was played with these winners: high, Gerald Van Bruggen, and low, Harold Ratts.
Ivan and Irene Gjerding furnished the afternoon cake and ice cream in honor of Irene’s 90th birthday on June 16, and club members signed a birthday card for her birthday.
At the club’s next meeting, the group will observe the birthday of the U.S. July 1 at the Legacy Center. Guests are welcome at the meetings. Attendees should use the west entrance, turn left, and then follow the arrows.
