Montplier OK Club holds meeting
The Montpelier OK Club met at the Legacy Living Center Tuesday with 15 members present. President Marlys Boughton opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. DeLila Everson and Janet Van Bruggen shared humorous readings.
Boughton told a story about a “grandma” scam she avoided by calling the police. She said a police officer came to her house and told her to share her experience with her friends so others can be aware. The scam was for her to get money from the bank, call them back, they would tell her where to take the money to one of named four possible business locations in Jamestown, and a person would meet her at a designated place when she called them back. Since she called the police, she didn’t follow up on any of the instructions. She also called her grandson’s father to check on her grandson. Several of the members also shared similar phone scams.Patti DeBuck was present at the Montpelier OK Club and paid her dues for 2014.Willie Kamletz thanked club members for the card that was sent to him after he fell in his home.
