MSUM takes dual from Jimmies
The University of Jamestown’s home-opener was against one of the better teams in the region.
The MSU-M Dragons won all 10 matches en route to a 41-0 win Thursday night.
The Jimmies took on the University of Regina in the second match. Results were not available at press time.
The Jimmies struggled to score up and down the lineup.
Jaykob Miller came closest to pulling one out.
A national-qualifier last season, Miller and Matthew Lewellen both struggled to find scoring chances, but the MSUM 184-pounder grinded out a 2-1 win.
Garret Hoffner and Tyler Schnaubert were scoreless into the third period at 157 until Hoffner got an escape for the only point.
The Jimmies were competitive at 133, 141 and 149.
Coby Horner’s three points at 133 were the most totaled by any Jimmie, but he came up four short. Eddy Wilson fell 5-1 at 141 and Klinton VanHeuveln (149) dropped a 5-0 decision.
The Dragons got off to a fast start thanks to former South Border standout Blake Bosch. The Wishek native pinned Joey Murillo at 4:33 at 125.
The Jimmies are right back at it Saturday at the Dakota Wesleyan Open in Mitchell, S.D.
