N.D. board accepts election results

The State Canvassing Board met Thursday afternoon to officially accept the results of the June 10 election in Foster County.

The Foster County Canvassing Board had met Aug. 11 to account for 300 missing ballots that were later determined to be a computer error. The “missing ballots” were uncovered during an earlier meeting of the Foster County Recount Board, which was convened after two ballots had been incorrectly accepted.

The State Canvassing Board had to reconvene to accept the election totals because the new Foster County numbers changed the statewide vote count previously certified by the North Dakota Secretary of State’s office, and the revised statewide totals needed to be certified.
