N.D. couple escape injury in Indiana plane crash
LAGRANGE, Ind. (AP) -- A North Dakota pilot and his wife have escaped injury in the crash of their small plane in LaGrange County, Ind. A horse on the ground was killed.
TV stations WKPC and WANE say the crash happened about 11 a.m. Thursday.
Authorities identify those aboard as 53-year-old pilot Robert P. Ostmo and his 54-year-old wife Terryl A. Ostomo of Wahpeton, N.D. They were flying home from Wauseon, Ohio.
The pilot told Indiana state Trooper Gary Gerardot the plane had mechanical problems.
Gerardot says the pilot tried to land the plane on a county road but was unable to do so. The plane hit four utility poles before coming to rest in a field, then catching fire.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
