ND gov, Minot officials unveil prelim flood plan
MINOT, N.D. (AP) -- A proposed Souris River flood-control plan in Minot calls for the purchase and removal of several hundred homes in the area.
North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple and the Souris River Joint Water Board unveiled the preliminary map at Minot's City Hall on Thursday.
Dalrymple says it's now up to the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide resources to move the project forward.
Dalrymple urged residents to attend public meetings next week at the Minot Fairgrounds to give their input about the map. Meetings are being held from 7- 9 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The state Water Commission is paying $2.5 million for the flood plan's engineering work
