ND resident killed in car-semi collision Saturday
A North Dakota resident died Saturday afternoon in a head-on car-semi-truck collision, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at 3:18 p.m. Saturday in Slope County, on Highway 85, west of Amidon, N.D.
The patrol said a 30-year-old Rhame, N.D., resident was driving a 2009 Ford Fusion westbound on Highway 85 west of Amidon, N.D., starting to negotiate a left-hand curve on the highway. The patrol said the driver lost control of the car, which slid and rotated on the ice-covered highway into the northeast lane of travel where it collided on the passenger side with a northeast-bound 2002 Mack semi-truck with attached flatbed trailer.
The patrol said the semi-truck driver could not take evasive action to avoid the car.
Road conditions at the time were ice-covered due to windy conditions with blowing snow.
Names were not immediately released by the patrol. The crash is under investigation.
