Chris Henchy, an executive at Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Productions, is working on the script. Henchy produced “The Campaign” and co-wrote “The Other Guys.” Ferrell and McKay will executive produce the project.

The project remains in development and is not part of the Warner Bros. Animation Group, the new collaborative cooperative that made “The Lego Movie.” Yet the project is picking up steam at the studio, which is eager to mine old WB properties such as “Scooby-Doo” and “Looney Tunes.”

Everyone's favorite caveman family first made it to the big screen in 1994 with a live-action movie starring John GoodmanRick Moranis and Elizabeth Perkins. That movie was followed by “The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas,” in 2000, which starred Mark AddyStephan Baldwin and Kristen Johnson.
