Nord wins title in Dickinson
Patrick Nord’s championship was the highlight of a good day at the Tyler Plummer Classic for the University of Jamestown wrestling team on Saturday.
The meet, hosted by Dickinson State, saw 11 Jimmies place, headlined by Nord’s championship at 165.
He pinned Great Falls’ Shawn Lau in 1 minute, 2 seconds, his third win by fall of the day. He also pinned his first two opponents in the first period, wrestling less than four minutes at the tournament.
Heavyweight Antonio Lopez also made the finals, losing to David Lopez of Great Falls by 5-0 decision.
Jamestown had one more top-three finisher in Jaykob Miller, who had to beat two teammates to secure his spot. He pinned Sean Lambert in 5:47, then took down Michael Nord by 6-4 decision for third at 174. Lambert finished sixth.
Dillon Kifer (149) and Andre Aguinaga (125) finished in fifth, while Edward Wilson nailed down a fifth-place spot.
Stuart Brandt (125), Dillon Beeler (149) and Julian Gallegos (165) brought home sixth place.
The Jimmies are back in action on Friday, when they go back to Dickinson State for a dual on Friday night.
