OAKES, N.D. (AP) — The longtime high school principal and activities director in Oakes has resigned nearly a week after an internal investigation began.

KDDR-AM reports Don Warren submitted his resignation Wednesday during a special school board meeting that lasted less than two minutes.

The board voted unanimously to accept the resignation, which was effective immediately, and thanked him for his service to the district.

Warren didn't attend the meeting but told The Associated Press he had no comment.

Oakes superintendent Josh Johnson also declined to comment on the investigation. He says the inquiry started last week and should be concluded by the end of next week.

Warren had been high school principal at Oakes since 1990 and the school's activities director since 2001.

The school is in far southeast North Dakota.
