Officials approve settlement for land
FARGO (AP) -- City commissioners in Fargo have approved a $1.85 million settlement involving 35 acres of land.
The settlement is with the Fargo School District for land taken for a construction project. It calls for the city to pay $1.25 per square foot for two parcels that will be used for storm water retention and street and utilities right of way.
The commissioners voted 4-1 to approve it. Commissioner Mike Williams opposed it saying he does not like local governments "bidding each other up" on land costs.
The Fargo School Board is expected to vote on the settlement at its regular Tuesday night meeting.
