Packers blitz Jays in first

The Blue Jays had a 2-1 lead as Nick Watne scored twice in the first 6 minutes, 8 seconds of the game. However, West Fargo’s Kody Coles scored his second goal of the first period with just five seconds remaining to give the Packers a 4-2 lead.
Fargo North dealt the Jays a similar onslaught on Tuesday night.
“Unbelievable,” Jamestown coach Matt Stockert said. “We’ve got to get this figured out here in a short amount of time. This whole first period thing — it’s not good right now. Needless to say, it’s very frustrating.”West Fargo outshot the Jays 30-9 in the opening period, but goals were limited thereafter.“You look at the second and third periods, that’s the hockey that we need to play,” Stockert said. “We need to take care of the mistakes we make — take care of some of those opportunities that we had.”Riley Vareberg joined Coles with two goals for the Packers, who received 29 saves from goalie Bailey Vareberg.Jamestown goalie Brian Wenzel stopped 47 shots in the loss.
