Unfortunately for Jamestown, the home team was a little better.

West Fargo pitchers allowed just two runs on five hits over seven innings, sweeping 3-0 and 3-2 in conference action.

Jamestown’s Joey Gebhardt and Brian Wenzel both pitched complete games, allowing a combined four earned runs on eight hits over the doubleheader.

“Any time you get the kind of outings we got on the mound today, you expect to get two wins,” Jamestown coach Shane Schoeneberg said. “You couldn’t ask for our guys to pitch much better.”

Camran Bonnema fired a one-hitter for West Fargo in the opener, giving up an infield single to Tyler Ukestad. The Patriots scored two in the third and one in the fifth.

In the second game, Jamestown got out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning with the help of an RBI double from Nate Soulis. Ben Walz had two hits and Landon Weiser had the other for Post 14.

West Fargo answered in the fourth inning with two runs to tie it. Bonnema reached on error in the seventh, was bunted over and scored the game-winning run on a hit from Ben Bruenjes to secure the sweep.

“We need to make one more play on defense, get one more hit, make one more pitch,” Schoeneberg said. “Every team now and then hits their funk. Lucky for us, we’re hitting it in June. As a team, we need to stick together and believe in each other.”

Jamestown (4-10) hosts Fargo Post 400 at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday at Jack Brown Stadium. It plays host to Wahpeton on Wednesday.
