Police: Stabbing not Black Friday related

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Twitterverse was all a-tweet about a possible Black Friday stabbing at Walmart in Bemidji. The rumor was partially true.

A 28-year-old man was stabbed at Walmart, but it was at about 11 a.m. Thursday, and not Black Friday, the overnight of the Thanksgiving Day holiday that has become synonymous with frenzied shopping.

“The incident is not Black Friday related and is currently under investigation,” Bemidji police Sgt. Dave Markert said Friday.

The man who said he was stabbed called the Bemidji Pioneer after seeing an earlier version of the story online Friday. He did not want to give his name.
