Police: Teen likely fell or jumped

NEW RICHMOND, Wis. — A 14-year-old New Richmond High School freshman was found dead Monday morning beneath a city water tower, likely the result of a jump or fall.

Authorities received a call at 7:46 a.m. Monday that someone was seen face-down and not moving beneath the approximately 100-foot-high tower. New Richmond police responded and found the boy, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by a representative of the St. Croix County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police have contacted the boy’s family but are withholding his name, pending a death investigation.
