Prairie Rose Garden club meeting set for Tuesday

The Prairie Rose Garden Club will be meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church by Alfred Dickey Library.

Guest speaker Laurie Podoll, who is also a master gardener, will speak on “All About Tomatoes.” Podoll will talk about the history of tomatoes and the many choices people have to choose from. What kind should people grow to eat with hamburgers? Spaghetti? Salsa? Once the choice is made, now how do you grow a good tomato plant to produce a good tomato? People are invited to come and learn about seed starting, transplanting, plant, trimming the branches and how to stake and secure the plant. Podoll will also talk about saving seeds and what diseases to watch for on plants.

Podoll will bring some items for her talk to show how she uses them.

Programs and meetings are open to the public. Anyone who would like to come may join for an evening of fellowship and learning. Hostess for the evening is Betty Brosz. Afterward the club will hold its business meeting. For further information, contact Betty at 252-4582 or Gloria at 320-9557.
