Roger A. Steckler, 55, Bismarck, died August 27, 2014, in an automobile accident.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, September 2, at Church of the Ascension, Bismarck, with Rev. Msgr. James Braaten officiating.

Burial will be held at Jamestown Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.

Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation.

Roger was born July 6, 1959, to Edmund and Evelyn (Willey) Steckler in Jamestown, ND. He grew up in Jamestown and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1977. Following high school, he worked for Wedgcor/Sunward Trucking as a driver and mechanic. Roger married Sara Schweigert in 1985; the couple moved to Bismarck in 1987 and had two children, Alan and Laura. Roger attended BSC and after college worked for Commercial Refrigeration and then Dakota Refrigeration.

Roger was well-liked and always willing to offer a helping hand. He enjoyed deer hunting each year with his son and family as well as getting together with the neighbors around a campfire. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and co-workers.

Roger is survived by his son, Alan (24) and his daughter, Laura (21), Bismarck; his parents, Ed and Evelyn, Jamestown; his brothers, Dan and Wayne (Penny), Jamestown; his sister, Nancy, TX; nieces and nephews, David and Kyla; Eric, Chris and Shawn; Derek and Ashley; and Rachel; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
