Rotary learns about online materials
Rotary members learned from Alfred Dickey Library Director Joe Rector and Jennifer Senger, assistant director and children’s library director, how to access library books, e-books, e-books/audio and databases from the North Dakota State Library.
Rector discussed how to go online to the library’s web page to access the different information patrons wish to see, read or download to their tablets, Kindles and/or computers. The library staff will assist patrons over the telephone or in person at the library. The library is opening new accounts for those patrons who do not have a library card and people can set up a pin number so they can access their accounts. Rector and Senger showed how easy it was to get online and read/review the information people need. The library system has e-book, iPads and tablets for people to use in the library or check out and take home. James River Valley Library System has Internet access at both locations and encourages the community to use these services.Carrie Orn presided at the meeting, Tom Eckstein gave the table blessing, Larry Hoffman and Jackie Tewes led the group in singing, and Gail Martin had 100 percent participation from every Rotarian attending in the “Happy Dollar” collection. The guest was Austin Bauer from The Jamestown Sun. Orn said the Brew Ha! Ha! is rescheduled for April 24 at the Quality Inn and Suites. The district conference is at the Holiday Inn in Fargo May 8-10, and Orn encourages as many Rotarians to attend as possible. Drivers for Meals on Wheels for April and May are still needed; contact Orn if able to spare a half hour to assist in this project.Rich Garmin, Great River Energy, will speak at today’s meeting on current activity at the SEPA Park in Spiritwood. Lyman Keim has the invocation, Casey Stoudt will lead the singing and Blaine Bergstadt is sergeant-at-arms.
