Rural water main being repaired
Repairs are under way for a broken water main on the Stutsman Rural Water system. The break occurred Aug. 25 where the line passes under Pipestem Creek about a half mile below Pipestem Dam.
"It affected the city of Eldridge and the area around the reservoir initially," said Geneva Kaiser, system manager. "We've rerouted the flow and everyone now has water although pressure is low in some areas."
Kaiser said water line leaks under existing groundwater are particularly hard to locate and repair.
"We got the repairs started Saturday and should wrap up no later than Wednesday," she said. "We estimate the cost of the repairs at about $35,000."
