SCARTA to hold officer elections
The Stutsman County Area Retired Teachers Association met on March 25 at the James River Senior and Community Center. President Orlin Will opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. He gave a report on the February card party and thanked all the members who worked at and donated to it. It was a success thanks to all the people from the community who came and played cards and bought things from the silent auction.
The scholarship committee’s notice for county high school seniors to get their applications in to Janet Well appeared in the newspape. The committee will select a recipient for this spring’s scholarship.
The April 22 meeting will include the election of officers for 2014-2015. The speaker will be the North Dakota Retired Teachers Association President Dennis Nathan.
Following lunch, Will introduced speaker Rob Lech, Jamestown Public Schools superintendent. Lech discussed the changes in the school system and using technology in the school. Technology is here to stay. He said students must be taught to take advantage of all the new devices but use them in a responsible way.
