Schulz receives language honor
Ligia Schulz was chosen foreign language student of the quarter by the James-town High School Foreign Language Department. She was selected by recommendation of her French teacher, Dianne Strand. She is the daughter of Joyce and Mike Schulz and is a freshman at JHS.
Schulz has taken two years of French and has consistently gotten As. She has been a member of French Club, JHS Student Council, cross country, soccer and band. In the eighth grade, Schulz won second place in North Dakota and seventh place in the nation in the Grand Concours, a national French contest. As a freshman, she won third in North Dakota and 16th in the nation in the Grand Concours. Other awards were first in the spelling bee in eighth grade, selected for Northwest Festival Honor Band, and winning many soccer tournaments. In her church Schulz is involved in youth group and call committee.
