S.D. man sentenced in ATM theft
FARGO (AP) -- A South Dakota man has been sentenced in federal court for stealing an ATM machine from a convenience store in southeastern North Dakota.
U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson on Wednesday ordered Richard Wayne Boyd III to serve four months in prison and pay back more than $9,000. Boyd had earlier pleaded guilty to bank robbery.
Authorities said the ATM was stolen in March 2008 from a store in Fairmount and was found a northeastern South Dakota ditch. The machine had been destroyed and emptied of cash.
Two other men pleaded guilty to bank robbery in the case. Erik Wilson was sentenced to probation and time already served. Jerry Hillberg Jr. is scheduled to be sentenced in February.
