Senators want FBI agents in Williston
WASHINGTON — U.S. Sens. Heidi Heitkamp and John Hoeven have asked the FBI director to place agents in Williston to help address the increase in crime occurring in western North Dakota.
In a letter to FBI Director James Comey, Heitkamp and Hoeven write that additional FBI agents recently dispatched to Williston were temporarily assigned to Sidney, Mont., due to space constraints in Williston.
However, Hoeven and Heitkamp write that they’ve been advised that permanent space is now available in Williston and ask that the FBI agents be moved to Williston at the earliest possible date.
“Williston sits in the heart of the Oil Patch and provides your agents the most optimal operating location to both carry out their duties and to assist state, tribal, county and local law enforcement agencies in western North Dakota as needed,” the senators write in their joint letter.
