Wine expert Paul Gospodarczyk examines the color before tasting different kinds of wine Tuesday during the first International Cold Climate Wine Contest at the University of Minnesota's St. Paul campus. Fifteen judges tasted 315 wines from 60 wineries during the competition all made from cold-hardy grapes like those grown in Minnesota. The winning wines are being displayed at the Minnesota State Fair which opened Thursday.
