Signatures still sought for library
People are still seeking signatures in support of a county-wide one-quarter percent sales tax that would pay for the renovation of the Alfred Dickey Library and an addition to the facility.
Supporters of the project hope to gather 1,700 signatures by their deadline, Sept. 3, and have so far collected more than 1,000, said Bill Kennedy, development director of the library. Should supporters succeed, the public will vote on the tax measure in the Nov. 4 general election.
The project’s estimated total cost is $9 million, with taxpayers paying for about $7 million.
Those interested in signing the petition can go to Dardis Realty on First Avenue, KSJB at the Buffalo Mall or call Kennedy at 252-2217. Anyone signing the petition must be a qualified voter within Stutsman County.
